The key ingredient to printing ID cards in house is Teslin synthetic paper. Teslin is a unique silica based printing sheet with an incredible bond strength. When printed upon by any common desktop printer, Teslin absorbs and binds to the ink irreversibly, forming a vibrant, clear, waterproof, durable, tear resistant image. Teslin’s incredible bond strength also binds much more tightly to the adhesive in laminating pouches than paper, allowing the possibility for edge to edge lamination with butterfly laminates. Only with a Teslin sheet is an edge to edge lamination possible, so that the ID card does not delaminate.

Laser Teslin TS1000 paper is compatible with any standard Laser printer or pigmented inkjet printer (such as an Epson with Durabrite ink) printer. For common dye based inkjet printers, we recommend Inkjet Teslin. Laser Teslin sheets are 8.5" by 11" (standard letter size) and come with 8 perforations. All of our Teslin sheets are 10 mil and form 30 mil cards when laminated between the two leaves of a butterfly pouch.

Perforated sheets reduce the time it takes to make ID cards from minutes to seconds! 8-up sheets are recommended as the fastest method of creating many ID cards at once. As 8-up sheets are difficult to reuse if any punch-out’s are missing, 1-up Teslin sheets can minimize waste and are recommended for creating smaller quantities of cards.
